I realize that most websites have active blogs with the purpose of getting to know the people behind the ministry. It is a commendable idea but it is not for me. Through prayer and pondering, this is why I don't blog:
1. My true life ministry experiences find their way into the many parts of Wild Frontier and FamilyBasedYouthMinistry.org. I fear duplicating myself for the sake of filling a blog post.
2. I hate blogs that are used for personal promotion. Blogs are supposed to be a sort of diary, not about how great of a minister I am so you will have me come teach your group. I fear posting too much of that because there is not much to say about my personal life.
3. My personal life involves my husband who's life is all about paintball. I don't want to blog about paintball. I know there are many, many millions who love paintball and the addiction that is paintball. I'm grateful to all those people because they make my husband's life work a joy but I don't want to blog about that. John doesn't want me to either. He already gets too many people asking for his autograph.
4. My life as a substitute teacher contains lots of amazing stories. But they are amazing stories with minors. Minors are not public domain.
5. The core of my entire life is my kids. They are my heartbeat and consume my mind thoughts. While they are no longer minors, their life stories are full of personal struggles which are not public stories. Some of their stories have been made public like the death of two of them or the birth of our grandchildren. But their day-to-day learning curve and struggles are not for public consumption. If I would only post about their victories, it would only be half of the story. Their stories are not my stories to tell even though their stories are the heartbeat of my life.
