The Green Bible: This is a Bible for those who love Creation Care. The cover is made of 100% cotton/linen that is produced in factories that purify both their wastewater and their air before recycling or releasing them. The paper used is 10% recycled content which keeps the pages Bible-thin yet strong. The ink is soy-based. And all verses that relate to nature are printed in green ink. (Time, September 29, 2008)

New career path: Green Collar Jobs: “As general environmental awareness among consumers and legislators grows, the number of ‘green collar’ jobs is also expected to grow substantially in the coming years. Many people are burning out of their 9-to-5 and/or corporate careers and are seeking out jobs that will help them give back and make the world a better place for future generations. In addition to greening corporations, organizations, and residential projects, it’s not unusual for the job of an eco-consultant to encompass green career counseling and/or green collar head hunting, helping individuals transition their traditional skills into more eco-friendly careers.” (The Cassandra Report, IG’s Trendcentral, June 3, 2008)

An improperly tightened gas cap might be low on your list of vehicular priorities, but the 17 percent of autos on the road that have gas caps that are loose, defective, or missing altogether cause 147 million gallons of gas to vaporize into the air every year. Make sure your gas cap is screwed on tight every time you’re done filling ‘er up. (Car Care Council, CAM Business Green Solutions Newsletter, Vol. 1, Issue 14)

Diapers have gone green There is a new kind of cloth diaper that use water-resistant covers to prevent leaks and are designed to be as easy-to-use as disposable diapers. Whiles these diapers cost $6 to $18 a piece, overall they will cost a parent $300. Disposable diapers generally have a cost of $3,000 per baby. (Time, January 21, 2008)

Buy goods labeled “post-consumer recycled content.” The added words “post-consumer” means that the items are actually from the items that were recycled by you. The word “recycled” is along the line of a food product being “fat free.” It may be fat free but it’s got extra something. Post-consumer recycled content is true green products. (USA Weekend, February 15-17, 2008)
